Season 2
Summary:
Season 2 was premiered on 9-30-2007 and the opening episode was ‘It’s alive’.
With the start of the second series, Dexter’s underwater dumping ground for his victims is discovered by the treasure hunters. Body after body is being extracted from the ocean and FBI special agent Lundy is brought to investigate the case and to find out the “Bay Harbor Butcher”. Rita and Dexter’s relationship becomes very tense because of Paul (her ex-husband)’s words that Dexter was to blame for his imprisonment. Rita accuses Dexter and assumes that Dexter is a heroin addict. Deb is struggling with the trauma of her experience with the Ice Truck Killer and is living with her brother. Dexter’s collection of glass slides which were containing the blood samples were discovered by the Doakes during the second season. In the season finale, Dexter’s ex girlfriend plays the role of surrogate mother.
Some new characters also appeared in the second season of the show and the role of Paul and Rita’s son was also recast. Last episode ‘The British Invasion‘ was aired on 12-16-2007.

Dexter sets his sights on a new victim: a murderer, so repulsive, it seems only fitting that he’s a used-car salesman. Dexter almost admires the man, though, for his smooth-talking charm and effortless lying, which Dexter knows he lacks himself these days. Dexter’s been unable to lie to Rita about his midnight activities, which has her thinking that he’s a drug addict. She’s threatened to leave him if he doesn’t commit to a 12-step program to deal with his supposed addiction. While in this recovery, though, Dexter meets a sexy, mysterious woman named Lila.
